What it would be like if I talked to popular music # 2

Gigglewick responds to claims by Jefferson Starship that they "built this city on rock and roll"

With thanks to my friend Anonymous, who came up with this concept.

We built this city

Pfffft! What are there, like four of you?

We built this city on rock and roll

No, you didn’t. See, I’ve got the plans here, and they quite clearly state the commissioning architect. While they don't go into the details of all builders employed, I'm reasonably sure that you weren't in the original workteam, being as the city you speak of was constructed in the most part 150 years ago. I'm not sure if you're after some kind of memorial plaque or something, but really...

Built this city

Could you please stop interupting? Listen, are you in the union? Because I’ve got a good mind to call them about this.

We built this city on rock and roll…

Look, I hate to break it to you, but although the foundations of many of the buildings here are indeed sandstone, we do not reside on a geological fault-line of any kind and frankly your insinuation that it’s possible to build a large group of buildings on soundwaves produced by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Queen is….wait! Where are you going? I’m just trying to have a conversation!!!

I haven't commented yet but I did giggle out loud when you posted this. How rude of them to walk off from you...

Nice post.

And not only that, I thought Rock 'n' Roll was about smashing shit up, not the noble pursuit of building the infrastructure we all take for granted.

Do you think there were major construction delays when they just lost the beat? Was this more or less of a problem than when, early on, they found themselves knee deep in the hoopla?

So many questions!!!!

PS Still waiting for the Oasis post

I hate people who try to take credit for other peoples work.

Rosanna,

Thank you - I'm sure Anonymous thanks you too (I sent her your comment on Friday via email, although no doubt by now she has read it herself).

KR,

Indeed.

Mr Pub,

I concur.

INCraig,

I couldn't possibly begin to answer those questions, being as I have not made, myself, such an outlandish claim.

Phishez,

Me too. That's why I credit my dear friend "Anonymous" instead of just posting like this was something I had the talent to think of all by myself.

Credit where credit is due, I say.

PS Hi "Anonymous"

* waves *

How would you respond to the lines 'Who's got the money? Underneath the bar?' At least, I think that's what they're singing.

Anon.

I reckon that Phishez has a point- what would the CFMEU and the(now outlawed) BLF think of Jefferson Starship's outrageous claims?

I always hated this band when they tried to modernise by upgrading from an airplane to a starship. Then they have the audacity to pose as some architectural gang! It's about time they were put in their place, bravo.
