The most annoying song in the world when on an 8 1/2 hour car trip....

...or so I am told by Mr Fix, through gritted teeth....

Something something and something
Some something something something and something
Astro boy, astro boy
He is brave and gentle and warm

Stronger than all the rest
This little robot will pass the test
Something someeeething
Something soooommmmething
The amazing Astro boy!

And in case anyone was wondering, here are the actual lyrics:

Soaring high in the sky,
He may be small but only in size.
AstroBoy, AstroBoy,
He is brave and gentle and wise!

Stronger Than all the rest,
this mighty robot will pass the test,
Oh villans fear him, so we cheer him,
The amazing AstroBoy!

When you need someone strong,
Our robot friend will never be long.
AstroBoy, AstroBoy,
He will try to right any wrong!
When there's danger near by,
No matter who, what, where, when or why.
He'll defend us, he'll defend us,
The amazing AstroBoy!

I won’t be singing these, as I have now lost interest.

Damn you, cusp-of-Generation-Y tendencies!

DUDE!

I was singing this in the car just the other day. Complete with 'something, somethings'. But I always remember the 'no matter who, what, where, when or why-ee' bit.

Glorious.

You just made my cold and soggy day so much brighter.

I am disappointed by the "He'll defend us/he'll defend us" line.

Surely they could think up something extra to avoid repetition?

Although, that is somewhat pot/kettle coming from a woman who sang "something something something" through the words I couldn't remember.

When Mr Fix complained, I started humming it under my breath.

Snaps to me for passive-aggression, I say.

How had Astroboy weaseled his spiky-headed-ness into your subconscience anyway?
I saw an exhibition on the guy who drew him (and Kimba) at the Art Gallery (on same time as the Archies) recently, that's my excuse...

I have no excuse.

There were a bucketload of Phantom comics at my MiL's partner's house on the weekend, but how that connects to Astroboy I'm not sure.

Blast from the past! Astroboy, The Mysterious Cities of Gold and something that I think was called Ulysses (set in space!) were the only children's shows I was allowed to watch as a kiddie (but how many 5 year olds got to stay up and watch The Young Ones? Life had it's perks). Unless my parents were interested in the guest star on the Muppet Show.

searching for the citieeeeess of GOOOOOO-OOOLD

something something something something something

and then something about evil forces

Hello!
I'm guessing "Go Speed Racer go-o-o!" might have been a little dangerous in that situation...

I believe a few enthusiastic verses of 'Monkey Magic' never goes astray!
:)

indeed.

But then, most of the words to Monkey magic appear to be

Monkey magic
Monkey magic
Monkey magic
Monkey magic OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH.

Yeah, that's about all I remembered too. Apart from the first line "Born from an egg on a mountain top"

It's not surprising seeing as, inexplicably, other lyrics include:
2nd line - "the punkiest monkey that ever popped"
and -
"What a cocky saucy monkey this one is" !!!!

Gotta respect a show that not only invents the word 'punkiest' but throws in some Buddhist wisdom at the same time! :)
