Tips for new players...

Facial waxing can be greatly enhanced by becoming ever-so-slightly inebriated.

Pros:

1. More relaxed
2. No fear
3. Another drink waiting when waxing is done.

Cons:

1. Misjudging the concept of "ever-so-slightly" followed by
2. No more eyebrows
3. Wax covered bathroom
4. Dozing off with the job only half done.

Dozing off in a puddle of wax? It all sounds like a surreal Madame Tussouds.

And hair always grows back. As long as it's not on your back.

Were you playing with your Nads Facial Wand again?
I have always been way too scared to attempt facial waxing by myself. You're so very brave. And provided such a vivid cautionary tale.

All,

It's OKAY. I still have my eyebrows. And I have been waxing for some time now, just this is the first time that I have realised that alcohol can have a calming effect which is a great boon to the process. Really!

Meva,

Hmmm. Would be worried I'd be placed next to Shane Warne for eternity. Hair does always grow back, but as I've said before, I just can't bring myself to "let it all hang out".

Chai,

Pffft! What photos? I suppose in six weeks time when I do the whole thing again I could post a "before" and "after" series, but fear that would frighten the children. Speaking of whom, Grizzlewick thinks wax strips are like sticky tape and giggles uncontrollably at the noise they make when removed. Am I raising a new de Sade or what?

ActonB,

No, that thing is banned from my life. I plan to make it one of the 28 year stories* I tell. I'm a big fan of the pre-sticky disposable wax strips, I think it's the Veet ones that I'm using at the moment but I'm not particularly fussy.

I don't mind facial waxing myself - I've been doing it since I was about 18, it is substantively more convenient than having to go out and get it done (cos you know you only have yourself to blame if you get it wrong).

* More about that in a separate post
