Definitely b). That would be terribly, terribly wrong.
Ah don't you just HATE the label 'Go To Person' ? It just means:
"You're the one who is busiest, contributes the most to the team, gets stuff done well and on time and always covers my arse. You're the one who's 'salary review' is stuck in the pipeline for aeons whilst mine is approved after shagging the HR rep during the end-of-financial-year BBQ lunch party. You're the one I 'recommend' for 'challenging' projects as 'on the job experience' and 'advancement strategies' because I have no f**king idea how to do it myself.
Long may it continue and if I suck up to you by sidling over and asking 'Can you do me a favour?' I want you to continue to put down the fifteen tasks you're working on and say, 'Sure'. And instantly forgive me for sitting on the task for three months and giving it to you when it's due tomorrow.
'kay?" - cue to smile cutely, wiggle fingertips and leave.

Interestingly, while it wasn't C), I kind of wish it was. The answer was actually closer to Kath's suggestion, involving more work for me with surprisingly little recognition/reward.

oh my. i feel so extra stupid now. i thought your admission of having underutilised schnitz knowledge was a clear pointer that it was in fact c).
but yes, i do know what you mean... i am now referred to as 'the font' which means i know just about every answer to every question and if i dont know it i can and will find it. so i guess im kind of like a go-to person but more of a go-to office mushroom. useful only some of the time.
