Julee Cruise has stupid hair, even for 1990 - NOW WITH PICTURES

"don't hate me because I have stupid hair,

hate me because I am a no-talent bum"

Random thoughts about Twin Peaks

1. It is more likely that I got the constant urge to offer people a "thumbs up!" sign from Dale Cooper than it is that I got it from anyone else (say, for example, Paul Hogan).

"promoting Tibetan independence since 1990"

2. I like the log lady.

"my log has something to tell you"

3. The fashion! Also, how is it that anyone thought Lara Flynn Boyle more attractive in the teen years than Sherilyn Fenn?

Lara Flynn Boyle vs...

....Sherilyn Fenn = no contest

4. James Marshall = nob. Also how does a 17 year old with a drunken mother and a deadbeat dad have a pristine Harley Davidson?

"I don't know gigglewick.

Perhaps I can sing a stupid song while fantasising about my dead girlfriend's cousin
who is sitting next to my current girlfriend who is my dead girlfriend's best friend?"

5. This whole series is worth watching just for the David Duchovny cross-dressing DEA agent, Denise.

wheet-woow etc

6. No matter how many times I have seen this show (including our current viewing the count is around five total run-throughs) I still find the BOB the evil spirit dude endlessly frightening. Tears prick the back of my eyes just seeing his face. Therefore I will post no pictures of him. I just found one and freaked out.

*shakes fist at David Lynch for ongoing psychological damage*

*hits 'play' on series 2.....*

*wonders just how far one can fall in GW's estimation by admitting to never having watched Twin Peaks*

*figures it's probably a considerable distance*

*decides not to mention anything*

*slinks out the door, tail between the legs*

Cherry Pie?

Thanks GW - those photos have made we want to borrow Twin Peaks and have a bit of a "falling....fallingg...in looooveeee" marathon.

Do you remember the scene when Sherylnn Fenn ties the cherry stem in a knot with her tongue, I have always tried to emulate that. Can anyone do it?

Wish I'd thought of Twin Peaks when I was last at JB Hifi buying Grey's Anatomy and The 5th Element! (damn!)

Have meant to catch up on TP for years cause I only ever saw bits of it (and the movie).

Yes, Fenn by far!! I've always thought she's STUNNING. I love the old-Hollywood look she has. Does anyone know how she's looking now?

I always suspected that it was two cherries. I hope I was wrong as that would spoil the magic.

Drag David Duchovny: yes
Log Lady: no

Stupid hair: yes
Solving crime by playing chess: no

i always thought sherilynn (sorry if my spelling is off) fenn was utterly gorgeous.

Eleanor - she appeared in some regular crime/medico series recently (don't ask me which, because I normally avoid all those) late one night as the older psychopathic lover of some troubled young man (or similar stereotype, i wasn't paying too much attention) and yes, she still looks great. she didn't have the wavy 'old hollywood' hair though - it was long and straight and morticia adams like.

Lynch is the only director who can successfully creep me out. He knows how to film our nightmares.

Eleanor,

I know. I bought it on an impulse while bored out of my scone waiting for a train.

Harpo,

Are you saying you LIKE stupid hair and DISLIKE chess as a crime-solving strategy? Because one might argue that Vincent D'onofrio has taken the two to their logical conclusion in Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Susanna,

Me too (obviously). And I think it was ER, but I'm not sure. Certainly Madchen Amick (Shelley Johnson) was in ER recently.

Also I recommend today's McSweeney's feature article, 'David Lynch's Tips for a Great Prom'

Was it 17 years ago - really? Thanks for making me feel even older, but what about the freaky backwards speaking dwarf? Never watched the film though as by that point it had all become a bit passe (and David 'Dave' Bowie really can't act for toffee).

Oh the potential for double entendres, MsB.

* considers double entendres for the phrase 'restrains herself' *

Sherilyn Fenn all the way! Collected some of her movies on VHS for a while (all B graders, I'm afraid... except for 'Boxing Helena' which has got some cult cred and 'Of Mice & Men.) Lara Flynn Boyle more attractive? On what planet would that be? Eleanor.. SF has popped up on the Gilmore Girls and Law & Order in recent years. You can tell she's had work done. Rumour has it she hit the drugs pretty hard and her age, despite, the Hollywood style PS is starting to show. She was great as Liz Taylor in the bio telemovie too.

Have recently re watched the first season of TP. Forgotten how damned good it is. May even have to pull out old, dog eared, high school copy of 'The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer'... ;-)
