Reasons it is unlikely I will win "employee of the month"
1. No one knows what my job is
2. Increasing level of belligerence over others’ inability to meet deadlines expressed in form of random violence towards machinery
3. New co-worker is former high school class-mate who probably still believes I am a suck
4. Muttering in the corner not considered a high priority KPI
5. Admitted to not having read ‘Power without Glory’ at tea-break*
*No, I don't work for the Labor Party. I wouldn't have got a job there with that kind of attitude.

Gigglewick, I know you're not me, but are you stealing my life?
Or am I stealing yours?
And no-one knows what I do either. Well, I do, and my boss does, but everyone else seems to think it involves 'helping' them with absolutely anything and anything.
And this morning I had a moron - who I do a lot of html coding for regularly - send me a rather lengthy email outlining how to do bold tags.
Yes. Bold tags.
Sorry, it made me crazy.
And the old schoolmate turning up to become new workmate thing is my greatest fear ...
I think muttering in the corner is an excellent use of time. I've never quite understood the passion for KPIs and other management-wank-speak anyway.
No-one seems to understand quite what I do, either, which is good because for the past week I've done very little but surf the net and read the newspapers...
*raises hand*
What's a KPI?
CL,
I share your pain.
RC,
you would think so.
CL,
Key Performance Indicator
Chesty, you are so very, very lucky to have to ask. Your mind is obviously unsullied by weasel words. I know what it stands for, but I really have no idea what it means, if indeed it actually means anything.
Redcap,
I couldn't agree more.
